6、epenniless.Actually,theeightyearsofhappinessmighthavefeltlikeasmallvacationtoapersonwholivedduringthetime.BABYBOOMERSBaby BoomersisthenamegiventothegenerationofAmericanswhowereborninababyboomfollowingWorldWarII.TheyoungestgroupofBabyBoomersaremanagingtheMillennialsandGeneration-Xgroupsofemployees-an
7、dinsomecases,beingmanagedbythem.TheUnitedStatesexperiencedanexplosionofbirths(hencethenamebabyboom)thatcontinuedforthenext18years,whenthebirthratebegantodrop.In1964,babyboomersrepresented40%ofthepopulation,whichmeansthatmorethanonethirdofthepopulationwasunder19yearsofage.Sincebabyboomersmakeupsuchas

10、heboomwas1957,when4.3millionboomerswereborn.Whyittookover10yearsforsomanypost-WorldWarIIfamiliestogetgoingisamatterofspeculation.Forthe5-yearperiodbetween1956and1960,inclusive,21.2millionboomerswereborn,nearly11/2timesthenumberbornbetween1941and1945,andthelargestforany5-yearperiodinthe20thcentury.Bo
11、omerstodayrepresent28%oftheU.S.population.Butin1964,theyrepresentedabout40%ofthepopulation.Inotherwords,in1964morethanathirdofthepopulationwasunder19yearsold!Nowonderthebabyboomersattractedsomuchattention.GENERATIONXERSIntheU.S.GenerationXwasoriginallyreferredtoasthebabybustgenerationbecauseofthedro
12、pinthebirthratefollowingthebabyboom.Thisgenerationsawtheinceptionofthehomecomputer,theriseofvideogames,andlatertheinternetasatoolforeconomicpurposes:Dots,MTV,Grungemusic,HiphopcultureandSecurity-Momsattributedtothisgeneration.TheUSCensusBureaucitesthisgroup(GenerationX)asstatisticallyholdingthehighe

14、 to U.S.Census Bureau statistics,83.8 million people were in the 25-44-year-old Generation X age bracket.GenXersareintheirpeakyearsofproductandserviceconsumptionanditsmembersviewelectronicmediaasaprimarytoolforconductingresearchandaccomplishingtasks.Themediatheyusearefragmented.Theyembraceawiderrang
15、eoflifestylesthanpreviousgenerations.WeanedonMTVandcabletelevision,theyarelargelyimmunetotraditionaladvertising.Facedwithstagnantwagesandhighdebt,theyaremorecostconsciousthanfree-spendingboomers.MILLENNIALSTheGenerationYaresometimescalledtheTrophyGeneration,orTrophyKids,atermthatreflectsthetrendinco
16、mpetitivesports(aswellasmanyotheraspectsoflife)wherenoonelosesandeveryonegetsaThanksforParticipatingtrophy.Trophykidsdevelopedpressuretoexcelnotonlyinschool,butalsohobbies,sportsandservicework.Arecentsurvey,theyfoundthat97%ofstudentsownedacomputer,94%ownedacellphone,and56%ownedanmp3player(iPod,Zune,

19、rights of various minority groups by law,in addition to the effects of 60s and 70s era influence on their generation,Millennials to some extent have been conditioned by the state,educational insitituion,and cultural influence to take a more neutral outlook on multiculturalism.Theyre the hottest comm
