Below are some smart ways to stay healthy suggested by some American experts.Drink More CoffeeWhen was the last time you heard a doctor use the word “miracle” ? Well, wake up and smell the coffee. “Its amazing,” says liver specialist Sanjiv Chopra, MD, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.“Coffee is truly a lifesaving miracle drug.”Though he says its still a “scientific mystery” how a simple cup of coffee works its wonders in the body, large epidemiological studies have repeatedly proved its astonishing benefits.“Drink it black, or at most put a little skim milk in it to minimize calories,” Dr.Chopra remends. He drinks at least four cups a day himself, though most people should limit themselves to two. And he jokes, “Im not sponsored by Starbucks.”Take a Walk for Your MemoryAerobic exercise(有氧运动) is good for your body, great for your mind, according to the latest research from brainfitness pioneer Arthur Kramer.Every year, an area called the hippocampus, which is key to memory, shrinks by about 1 to 2 percent, increasing the risk of dementia (痴呆) as the years roll by. However, Kramers new investigations reveal that the hippocampi of adults who walked briskly for about 45 minutes three times a week grew by about 2 percent over the course of a year, preventing agerelated shrinking.“Its never too late to start exercising,” Kramer says.Volunteers in his research were between 55 and 80 years old and hadnt exercised at all.And it doesnt need to be backbreaking.“Anything that raises your heart rate seems to work,”he says.“Walking is fine. Just find something you like and do it.”Early to Bed,Early to Eat“Being a night owl might increase your waistline,” says sleep expert Michael Breus, PhD.People who stay up late and sleep late tend to eat more fast food and consume more of their calories after 8 pm. than normal sleepers.“One of the easiest things that anyone on a diet can do to improve her results is go to bed and wake up at the same times every day,” Breus says.“This way, your body knows when to sleep and is much more efficient.Organize your eating, too, by trying to eat meals at the same times every day.Avoid eating after 8 pm.,and dont miss morning meals by sleeping in.”Use the 20second RuleWhats the difference between having a goal and actually acplishing it? “Just 20 seconds,” says positive psychology specialist Shawn Achor.Researchers have learned that if we can cut 20 seconds off the startup time required for a task, were much more likely to follow through. So, for example, if you want to work out in the morning, place your shoes and exercise clothes next to your bed the night before. If you want to praise people more, put thankyou notes and a pen on your desk.Imagine the Worst to Feel BetterDont count your blessings; subtract (减掉) them.“Consciously spend a few minutes imagining what your life would be like without the good things,” says Timothy Wilson, a psychologist at the University of Virginia. Youll experience stronger feelings of love, gratitude, and happiness when you think about what life would be like without the people and things you love. “And theyll seem surprising and special again,” he adds.1According to Sanjiv Chopra, most people should not drink more than _ cups of coffee a day.AtwoBthreeCfour Dsix2Which of the following may help people on a diet to improve their results?ARaising their heart rate.BTaking a walk for their memory.CEating at fixed times.DSleeping in every morning.3According to Shawn Achor,if people place their shoes and exercise clothes next to their bed at bedtime, theyre more likely to _ the next morning.Ado exercise Bset a goalCcut 20 seconds off Dsleep 20 minutes more4Why should people spend a little time imagining their life without good things?ATo experience surprise.BTo feel better.CTo consider their own blessings.DTo prepare for the worst. AGood enough is enough BRome wasnt built in a dayCOrganize first; buy secondDplete each task as soon as possibleEDont bite off more than you can chewFOrganizing starts from good planningWhat not to do when organizing your homeNicoleexpert on home organizingthinks it will be most helpful to tell us donts instead of dos. She says the following five missteps are the most mon in her line of work and most likely to cause mess even if youve made the best efforts.1_. Do not go out and buy a ton of storage pieces and supplies before you sort through your home. All of those pretty bins, boxes and baskets at The Container Store are very attractive, but they wont do you any good unless they fit the space. Hold what you need them to hold, and function properly for your particular space. I remend cleaning out first, assessing what containers you really need, and then buying a few bins to start. You can always add later, but you dont want a bunch of empty containers messing up your home while you figure out where you might use them.2_. Do not set aside an entire day to organize your whole house. Very few people have the energy and focus to spend 8 hours organizing. Youll likely bee frustrated and less efficient as the day progresses. Its much better to spend a few hours2 or 3on one project or space. This way youll feel motivated to do more, not burned out by the process.3_Once you have decided where something is going to gotake it there. Never keep bags for charity or boxes for friends in your home to deliver later. Do it now. Finish the process. Take the bags and boxes out to the trash or recycling immediately. If youre donating something or giving something to a friend or family member, put the items in your car or make arrangements for dropping them off. Youve done so much work getting this stuff ready to take out, plete the deal!4_. Do you think that once youve organized your space, you are done. Youll feel like a failure when you have to clean it up again in a month. Realize that while you have created a new, efficient, and logical system for processing and managing ining and outgoing items, you are not done. You can never put things right once and for all. You should expect regular upkeep, but just be glad that the new system is far more efficient than the old one.5_Dont seek perfection. Very few people have closets and drawers like those in The Container Store. Trust me. Ive been in a lot of houses and apartments and even after weve totally reorganized a space, it doesnt look like an ad for The Container Store. It looks great and works properly, but it is a space that is used by an actual human being, not one that has been carefully staged by a team of stylists and marketers for a nonexistent resident. You will finally be disappointed if perfection is your goal. 依据文章Drink More Coffee中提到的“though most people should limit themselves to two”可知,他认为大部分人应该每天限制喝咖啡在两杯以内,故选A项。 Early to Bed,Early to Eat中提到的“One of the easiest things that anyone on a diet can do to improve her results is go to bed and wake up at the same times every day”及“Organize your eating, too,by trying to eat meals at the same times every day.” 3解析:选A。 依据文章Use the 20second Rule提到的“So,for example,if you want to work out in the morning, place your shoes and exercise clothes next to your bed the night before.” One possible version:Dear Zhang Ping,Im glad to hear that you want to study abroad in your letter. Besides, you should have the ability to adapt quickly to the new environment. Whats more, your interest is valued as well, for it has a lot to do with success.
