He was living in Italy at that time, but his hometown was in England, which was his dreaming place. It described a typical scene in the English countryside in the poets memory when he saw the coming spring of Italy.,Analysis,Oh, to be in England Now that Aprils there, And whoever wakes in England Sees, some morning, unaware, That the lowest boughs and the brush-wood sheaf Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf, While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough In Englandnow!,A B A B C C D D,Rhyme Scheme,Trimeter,Tetrameter,Pentameter,Trimeter,Alliteration,Visual images,Auditive image,The metrical pattern and the rhyme scheme give it a sort of rising and falling sense that mirrors the emotional rise and fall of the poems central theme:the burst of joy at thinking of home, then the resignation that home lies so far away.,Enjambment 跨行句,And after April, when May follows, And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows! Hark! where my blossomed pear-tree in the hedge Leans to the field and scatters on the clover Blossoms and dewdropsat the bent sprays edge Thats the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over, Lest you should think he never could recapture The first fine careless rapture! And though the fields look rough with hoary dew, All will be gay when noontide wakes anew The buttercups, the little childrens dower Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!,Analysis,E E F G F G H H I I J J,Rhyme Scheme,Pentameter,Tetrameter,Pentameter,Alliteration,Assonance,Visual images, personification,Auditive image,The more even metrical pattern and more drawn-out rhyme plan allow for a more contemplative feel;it is here that the poet settles back and thinks on the progress of the seasons that cycle outside of him.,Theme,The poet described the detailed images one by one, and each gives us a very positive view. So we can see that the natural scenery of England was branded deeply in his heart. That absolutely showed his love for his home. The poet missed his home, but we feel nothing sad in the poem. So this is a kind of contract. It reveals his strong homesick by describing his beautiful scenery of home.,Translation,呵,但愿此刻置身于英格兰 正当这阳春四月。 那金凤花,孩子们的嫁妆, 比这俗丽的甜瓜更为灿烂明亮!,Thank you,Dramatic Monologue,A dramatic monologue is a poem with a speaker who is clearly separate from the poet, who speaks to an implied audience that, while silent, remains clearly present in the scene. (This implied audience distinguishes the dramatic monologue from the soliloquy独白,自言自语-a form also used by Browning-in which the speaker does not address any specific listener, rather musing aloud to himself or herself). The purpose of the monologue (or the soliloquy) is not so much to make a statement about its declared subject matter, but to develop the character of the speaker. Each character in the poem exposes his or her innermost thoughts and emotions through monologues one by one.,Back,- 配套讲稿:
