Chinese landscape paintingsFor at least a thousand years, the Chinese have been painting their landscapes. Historically, it is believed that the love of nature is inherent, or a part of the soul of a Chinese artist. Guo Xi, a famous 11thcentury Chinese painter of landscapes , stated an artist should identify himself with the landscape and watch it until its significance is revealed to him.Landscape paintings have traditionally been Chinas favorite theme, describing poetry in nature, or the nature of nature. While the painting may be of a mountain, there will be many other elements of nature that invite the viewers to wander in their own imagination through the landscape.Literally translated, the Chinese characters for landscape mean “mountain and water”Almost all Chinese landscape paintings describe mountains and water, generally a river. The mountains stand for long life; water stands for happiness. When together, mountains and water stand for a long happy life. When placed in a landscape painting, the human form is, in size and perspective, much smaller, and often dwarfed by the images of nature. Mountains are large within the context of the painting, indicating their importance in Chinese life.1inherent adj. 1What do landscape paintings describe? 2What do mountains and water together stand for in Chinese landscape paintings? 1.Landscape paintings describe poetry in nature,or the nature of nature.2Mountains and water together stand for a long happy life. 不寻常的;非凡的【答案】1.like2.dislike3.artist4.colourful5.contemporary6.delightful7.scene8traditional9.alive10.aspect11.imitate12observe13.reality14.style15.adopt16aim17.stand18.unusual看单词学构词:ful为常见的形容词后缀。 1.be/get tired of 2.be fond of3.tell by4all the time5.develop an interest in根据提示补全下列教材原句1. There are even some photographs of “light paintings” that he created. These paintings were produced by moving a light pencil,or a small flashlight in the air.Although the images could be seen only by people watching them happen, the camera was able to catch the images as they occurred.By the time he died in France in April of 1973,he had created 22, 000 works of art. When Picasso was asked how someone could become an artist,he would reply,“If you want to draw, you must shut your eyes and sing.”【语篇解读】20世纪世界著名艺术家毕加索,幼年就开始绘画。 1After reading the text, we can learn that Picasso was a(n) AFrench artistBSpanish artistCEnglish artistDAustralian artist【解析】细节理解题。 B2The meaning of the underlined word “pasted” in this text means AstuckBstruckCdrew Dmixed【解析】词义猜测题。 A3Which would be the best title for the text?AHow to Become a Great ArtistBA GeniusCPablo Picasso:More Than Just a PainterDPicassos Life in France【解析】主旨大意题。 C4According to the text, which of the statements is right?AEven Picasso was a great artist,he was not clever at all when he was young.BPicasso didnt leave Paris until he was 23 years old.CPeople didnt like Picassos works at firstDPicasso was only good at college.【解析】细节理解题。由文章中的“Many people thought Picassos works were strange and unpleasant.” Willard Franklin came to my class half a year ago.
