Unlike Western cultures, Chinese calligraphy is valued as “high art” in Asian cultures. Throughout the history of China, calligraphy has been p

7、racticed by national leaders, scholars, and people in all walks of life. Chinese calligraphy is not only a beautiful art; its practice is also an effective way to enjoy healthy life and longevity.ACTIVITY 1 LISTENING Directions: Listen to the following passage about calligraphy, and then answer the

The handwriting was done with quill and ink onto materials like vellum or parchment. Calligraphy is the art o

9、f making beautiful or elegant handwriting. It is a fine art of skilled penmanship. Today, there are three main types or styles of calligraphy: Western or Roman, Arabic and Chinese. Teachers let the students listen to the passage from the beginning to the end once to see to what extent that the stude

10、nts can take the notes of the questions. Then let the students listen to the tape again and leave enough span of pause, making the students take down the answers.
