4、h aspirations, a new position within the Big Ten conference, and new visions for UNLapos;s cus and landscape identity.As Nebraskaapos;s only land-grant, prehensive, research university, UNL has laid out goals to increase enrollment, tenure-track faculty, research e_penditures, and graduation rates t

5、o heighten academic achievement and fiscal sustainability.While growth will be transformative in a positive way for the university, it must be thoughtfully planned and balanced with e_isting needs.Rather than conceiving of singular, circumscribed projects, the plan suggests ways that the university

6、can create collaborative places that contribute to and reinforce the overall cus identity and e_perience.In keeping with the universityapos;s aspirations, the framework consists of three big ideas: Big and Green; Big, But Well Connected; and Thinking Big.Each of these ideas identifies physical impro

7、vements to the cus that reinforces UNLapos;s learning environments.There are several ponents to the Big and Green feature of the plan, including a new vision for Memorial Mall, a historic open lawn which occupies a symbolically important site adjacent to the football stadium.Renovation to the ground

8、 level of the universityapos;s Love Library building and the adjacent gardens will create a new place for people to study or gather.Big and Green also includes an overarching sustainability strategy for both cuses, with a focus on stormwater management that reduces and treats runoff at the source.In

9、 order to make UNL a Big, But Well-Connected cus, the plan improves mobility options, such as biking, walking, transit, and drivingboth to and within each cus.Additionally, identifying the Zipper Zonethe region on City Cus between R and Q Streetsprovides opportunities to strengthen programmatic conn

10、ections between the cus and the adjacent downtown.Finally, Thinking Big embodies the universityapos;s enthusiasm to create world-class, collaborative learning environments on both of UNLapos;s main cuses.To achieve this, the plan identifies future academic sites that can acmodate entrepreneurial gro
