1、Unit 4 Unforgettable Experiences (Reading: The rescue) Hello, everyone. Today Im very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. My topic is The rescue taken from Unit 4 in SEFC Book1A. It is made up of three parts.Part1: My understanding of this lessonThe analysis of th

2、e teaching material:This lesson is a reading passage. It plays a very important part in the English teaching of this unit. By studying this lesson, Ss can improve their reading ability and learn to describe people, things, events and peoples feelings. At the same time, we should get the students to

3、understand some difficult language points to comprehend the passage better. They also should do some listening and speaking. Of course, the Ss should receive some moral education. Let the Ss understand the unforgettable experiences well, love life and love the earth.Teaching aims:1. Knowledge aim:(1

4、) Understand the main idea of the text.(2) Master some important words and expressions.2. Ability aim:(1) Improve the students reading ability(2) Learn how to organize ideas in a text using “First”, “Next”, “Then” and “Finally”3. Emotional aim:Let the Ss understand the unforgettable experiences well

5、, love life and love the earth. Teaching important points: Help the students understand the passage better.Teaching difficult points:1.How to improve the students reading ability.2.Use your own words to retell the text.Something about the Ss:1. The Ss have known some natural disaster and had some un

6、forgettable experiences.2. They are lack of vocabulary.3. They dont often use English to express themselves and communicate with others.4. Some Ss are not active in the class because they are afraid of making mistakes.Part 2 My teaching theories, methods and aidsBefore dealing with this lesson, Ill

7、do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as director; Combine the language structures with the language functions; Let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language.Teaching method:Qu

Teaching steps / proceduresI have designed the following steps to train their ability of listen

9、ing, speaking and reading, especially for reading ability.The entire steps are:Greetings; Lead-in and preparation for reading; Fast reading(scanning); Intensive reading; Listening and reading; Explanation and further understanding; HomeworkStep 1 Greetings (Greet the whole class as usual)Step 2 Lead

10、-in and preparation for reading T: Today, were going to read something about the natural disaster. What natural disasters do you know? Now discus it quickly (2minitus) Show pictures about natural disasters to learn new words( such as typhoon/hurricane, tornado/twister, tsunami, volcanic eruption; av

11、alanche/snow storm and so on.)Purpose: Arouse the students interest of study. Bring in new subject: The rescueStep 3 Fast reading (Skimming)Read the passage fast and fill in the space. I show the questions on the screen and let them get the main idea of the text.(2)What disaster: A very terrible flo

12、odWho: Flora & JeffWhere: Near their house.The end of the story: They were safe next to the chimney.Method: Read the text individually, use questionandanswer activity.(answer it one by one )Purpose: Improve the students reading ability.
