1、 三義 木雕博物館 Sang Yi The wood sculpture museum 今天真是一個適合出外遊玩的好日子啊！我們一行人首先來到的地方是苗栗木雕博物館。苗栗木雕博物館是隸屬於苗栗縣文化局，於一九九五年四月九日開館，位於苗栗三義是臺灣唯一一個以木雕為主的公立博物館。因三義這個地方盛產樟木，所以開始以木雕漸漸而聞名。我們從竹南開車過去大概要一個小時左右的車程，我們十點三十分出發到的時間差不多是早上十一點。因為是去的那天是禮拜天的關係，所以人潮還蠻多的。好在博物館前就有免費的停車場，不用找很久停車位。What a wonderful day to go out and have fun

2、! The wood sculpture museum (木雕博物館) is the first destination of our trip. Under the jurisdiction of Miao Li County Cultural Bureau (苗栗縣文化局), this wood sculpture museum was open to public on 9th April in1995, and located in Sanyi(三義). The wood sculpture museum is the only public wood sculpture museum

3、 in Taiwan. Sanyi abounds with camphor woods； therefore, it is famous for wood sculpture. It will take an hour to drive from Jhu-nan(竹南) to Sanyi. We started at 10:30 and it was about 11:30 when we arrived. Because it was Sunday, there were many tourists. But thank God there is a free parking lot in

4、 front of the wood sculpture museum. You dont have to take another hour to find a parking lot.當您來到博物館，您會先看到一對巨大的木雕大象，比人還大的木雕大象很少見，又擺在大門口前，想必這是這家博物館的第一個特色吧！遊客來到幾乎都不忘跟它們照張相，你可別錯過喔！When you go to the museum, the first work youll see is a pair of huge wood elephants. 5、er than human. The elephants are set in front of the entrance and they are the first characteristic of the museum! Everyone who goes there wont forget to take a shot with the elephants. You cant miss it! 1. 三義 木雕博物館 Sang Yi The wood sculpture museum 苗栗木雕博物館展覽空間分為兩館。一館為一、二樓和地下室；二館為二、三、四樓。入口進去先會看到的是森林

6、區，遊客可以看到就是幾根樹幹，每根樹幹都是木雕的原木。然後在這一區你能看到的是大概在解說木雕的發展變遷和源流，還有些古代木雕、土著的木雕的雕刻作品。看過解說你就會知道其實雕刻的起源是發生在石器時代，以石器或是骨牙角器將木材雕成各種造型和刻成圖文。因為以前的木材保存不易，所以木雕的起源也許比石器時代還要在更早。對於想要對木雕歷史更研究的遊客：你們來這就對了！這有許多關於木雕的知識。The exhibition halls of the museum are found on Level 2, 3 and 4 of the second building, and Level 2, and bas

7、ement of the main building. The forest area is the first area youll see when you come through the entrance. What you see is some trunks, and each trunk is the log of the wood sculpture. Furthermore, tourists can know the development and the origin of the wood sculpture； also, the museum show you som

8、e ancient and aboriginal wood sculpture works. After reading the explanation, you will know the origin of the wood sculpture, which might begin in the Stone Age; moreover, the woods were carved into 二樓主要展示的是寺廟神像區、建築傢俱區和模印區。以中國歷史來說，宗教的確是佔蠻重要的一部分。在這可以看到莊嚴又細膩的神像。作者太厲害讓你都不敢太靠近看，因為好像會冒犯到它的感覺。在另外一旁我們看到做木雕

9、的工具、器材，還有圖片告訴我們木雕的製作方法和流程連。原來如何選一塊適合的木材也是一種學問呢！挑的不好雕出來可能就不能做出好的作品。我想不是每個人都有那個天份去做吧！因為那需要耐心，而且要坐在一個地方慢慢的雕木頭。different shapes and pictures by the stones and bones. 10、For the tourists who are interested in the history of wood sculpture: “This is the place!” Here is some interesting knowledge of woodcarving.There are three topical subjects on the second floor. First, the temple and the wood sculpture of the gods area； then the architecture and the furniture area；

11、last, the molding area. In the history of China, its no doubt the religion takes an important part. This floor has some solemn and exquisite woodcarving of gods. The creators of the works made them so vivid, that you dare not watch them closely. Because some people are afraid you would offend the wo

12、odcarving gods. On the other side, we found the tools and implements for wood sculpture. Furthermore, there are pictures showing you how to make the woodcarving and the processes. It is a big problem to choose the right wood to carve! You wont make a great work if you pick the wrong wood. I think no

13、t everyone has that gift to do the woodcarving! Besides that needs practice to complete a work. It is no way to carve the wood slowly in peace for modern-day people! 2. 三義 木雕博物館 Sang Yi The wood sculpture museum 三樓展示是一些得過獎的作品，還有個人的作品展示。每個作品都有主題，且都相當都有特色。看的人就必須要有充分的想像力，如果你不去看它的主題是什麼，也許你連猜也猜不到它到底在刻什麼呢

14、！接下來在四樓的部分是複合媒材及當代藝術邀請展複合媒材。是以雕刻為主，但是以不同的材料雕刻出來。像我們那天看到的是用不繡鋼製成的作品。作者利用不同的材料雕塑出跟一般木雕不一樣的感覺。看完了這些遊客就可往地下室走，那是紀念品區。有很多用木雕製成的小紀念品，像是鑰匙圈、存錢筒和茶具。你也可以在那邊買到木雕博物館的簡介，帶回去可更深入了解三義木雕和博物館的精神。這個地方蠻具教育意義的，不論你喜不喜歡雕刻，當你來這體驗過三義的雕刻之美，你一定會愛上這裡！鄉親阿！這就是愛台灣啦！懂我意思嗎！The third floor shows some works which winning the prices

15、 of sculpture and the personal works. Each work is unique and has a subject. Youd better use your imagination well. Otherwise youll totally have no idea about the subject of the work if you dont look the hints! Next, the fourth floor shows the mix media and the invitational exhibition. This area als

16、o shows the carving, but the works in here use different materials. For example, you can see the works made of stainless steel. The creator uses it to make different works from the wood sculpture. After seeing all the beautiful works of art, you can go to the basement. The basement is a gift shop. T

17、ourists can buy many woody souvenirs, such as key rings, money savers, tea-things and the brief introduction of the museum. The brief introduction will let you understand the spirit of the museum and the Sanyi wood sculpture more. This is an educational place. No matter you like the wood sculpture o

18、r not, you got to be here and understand the beauty of the Sanyi wood sculpture, you will love it. Man! This is what we call “Loving Taiwan!” You know what Im saying!另外在木雕博物館旁有一個小山丘。而且遊客可以沿著四月雪小徑走。雖然那沒有雪但是我能保證這還是一個美麗的小山丘。爬上山頂之後能看到整個三義的美景。別忘了去逛一逛街上木雕的店家，你會發現還沒走進去你就已經聞道木頭的味道了。進去看一看，也許你會發現一些俗又大晚的好貨喔！ B

19、y the way, there is a small hill next to the museum. Moreover, tourists can walk along the “Snow of the April” path to the top of the hill. I can guarantee you there are no snow. However, it is still a wonderful small hill even without the snow. You can climb to the top and see the whole Sanyi. Then

20、 dont forget to walk around the street. So many stores sell woodcarving products. You can smell the wood before you get in to the store!
