Based on what the Ss ha

2、ve previously learned, they will dive further into the characteristics of each poem, for example, the rhyme, the rhythm, the number of lines, the repetition and so on, in order to appreciate and then try to write one by themselves.Reading is a basic stage of language learning. The teacher should fre

3、quently give Ss various kinds of reading activities to improve their thinking skills, especially creative thinking. Only in this way, can Ss become creative learners and thus learn more effectively.II.Type of lesson :Reading listening &writingIII.Teaching Objectives :A. Target languageLight-hearted,

6、k Ss a question based on the previous lessons in this unit, “which poem do you like best? Why?”Illustration: Ss will recall their memory of what they have learnt about five basic forms of poetry and the characterristics of them, which lays a foundation for todays lesson.Step 2. Pre-reading and readi

7、ng (2 minutes)Play the short song of “If you were the only girl in the world” to Ss, and ask them three questions to think about. 1. Which poem is being played?2. How do you feel?3. Can you figure out the characteristics of this poem, eg. topic, image, type, feature, ect?Illustration: The first ques

8、tion is designed to lead them easily to the learning material of this lesson and help them to get a general idea about this poem. The second question is to encourage them to speak out whats in their mind. The third question furthers their analysis and conclusive thinking about the characteristics of

9、 these poems.Step 3 Reading(12minutes)According to the previous step, Ss are divided into seven groups to discuss about the characteristics of the rest four poems on Page 52. And a representative of each group is to report their outcome of discussion.Illustration: All the learning tasks are rewarded

10、 with points, varying from 5 to 15 points, for levels of difficulty and their performances. The aim is to stimulate their spirit of teamwork and honor.Step 4 Listening ( 6 minutes )1. The teacher plays the video on Page 53 for the first time and ask Ss to tick the answers in Exercise 1. Every report

11、er who gives the right answer will contribute to the points of his or her group. Illustration: This step is to enable them associate the topic with daily conversation and their skill of locating useful information.2. The teacher plays the video again and ask Ss to find out more information about the

12、 three speakers in the dialogue.Illustration: This step is to help them practise their skill for detailed listening.3. The teacher plays the video for the third time and this time Ss are asked to pay more attention to the tongue of the three speakers to find out whether they three have a close relat

13、ionship.Illustration: This step is to improve their proof listening skill and help them get a grander view out of the dialogue.Step 5 Discussion( 3minutes )Based on the reading and listening parts, Ss are guided to think about the question “what kind of poem would you like to write?”Illustration: Th

14、is step aims to put Ss in real situation and push them to think about the essential elements of writing a poem.Step 6 Writing ( 5 minutes )1. Ss are divided into seven groups of nine and given 6 minutes to have an cooperation to compose a poem together by using a certain form. There are two topics f

15、or Ss to choose from. One is the coming Fathers day of June 17th, the other is Xianning High School, which is easy form them to start. If possible, Ss are allowed to choose another topic they want.2. Ss are encouraged to present their work of art by reading it aloud in the front of the class and the

16、 group who can make it will gain 15 points for their group. Illustration: This step starts from the topics familiar to Ss so that they can brainstorm their ideas, aiming to help Ss put what they have learnt in this lesson into practical use. For example, from Picture 1, they may think of father, family, fathers love and so on; from Picture 2, they may think about busy life in school, happy life in school, friendship in school and so on.Step 5 Assignment after classTry to write other forms of poems or other topics.
