By 2025, the leading procurement organisations will be conversant with advanced data mining and statistical analysis technologies and techniques that can turn any of these “what ifs” into realities. These analytical capabi

6、lities will be integral to all high-performance procurement organisations across all industry sectors.We believe that the convergence of technologies and enablers and a new talent profile for the procurement professional in 2025 will be major disruptors to how organisations work and are organised. T

7、hese disruptors will allow organisations to gather and analyze more data in a richer, real-time environment to drive better, smarter, and more accurate and fact-based solutions. Cloud-based solutions, artificial intelligence, virtual payment cards and the internet of things are just a few examples o

8、f emerging technologies, which, as they mature and are applied to the procurement executives agenda, will contribute to the functions ability to generate real-time insights, utilise predictive or prescriptive decision support tools, and include all of that enhanced capability in a more productive an

9、d efficient department.Additionally, when we think about the procurement professional as we approach 2025, there are some typical gaps that we see today that will have to be filled and cultivated. These gaps include data analytical skills, both knowing which techniques are available and appropriate

10、for a specific problem-solving effort, and how to use them. A limited working knowledge of ad hoc, Excel-based analytics is not going to be sufficient going forward. Additionally, as supply markets become more complex, qualities such as market expertise, suppliereconomics and negotiation will be a m

11、inimum standard. Finally, procurement professionals are also going to have to make data-driven decisions based not just on their own data, but also the information from all of their downstream suppliers. This will require the entire procurement organisation to excel at advanced communications, innov

12、ation and leveraging collaboration tools.We are only at the starting line in many ways, so now is the time to act. In some respects, the analytics-driven decision-making journey has only just begun. But if you look at performance leaders across almost any sector, it is data-driven companies that are the“fast movers.” Procurement is no exception. Mastery of data will be a critical skill for navigating procurement challenges over the next 10 years and beyond.
