1、介词+which / whom引导的定语从句1 当关系代词在定语从句中作介词的宾语时，可用介词+which / whom引导定语从句。但不能用that或whom。且介词后面的关系代词不能省略。(动宾可省，介宾不可省)2 在非正式英语中，介词可放在从句末尾，此时可用关系代词that, whom, who, which，且关系代词可省略。3 当先行词是way（方式，方法）时，常用in which或that引导从句，有时可以省略。4 介词的选用要根据动词词组或上下文。e.g. The place to which I often pay a visit was built in the 17th c

2、entury. Last night I had a dream in which I became a Nobel Prize winner.5 在某些关系紧密的固定短语中，介词一般不能提前，如: pay attention to，listen to, look at, look after, take care of, look for, depend on. (注意，听，看，寻找，依赖) e.g. Is this the book which you are looking for? 关系副词when, where, why引导的定语从句1. when（在那时）指时间，在从句中作时间状语

3、，相当于in (on, at, from)+时间名词或表时间的副词，其先行词常为time, moment, day, season, year等表示时间的名词。e.g. The time when we got together finally came. *在time作先行词表示“次数”时，如果被序数词(第几次）或the last(最后一次)修饰时，只能用that引导。E.g. This is the last time that I shall go there with you. The first time that I saw you was last month.2. where（

4、在那里）指地点，在从句中作地点状语，相当于in ( on, at, from)+地点名词或表地点的副词there, here等。其先行词常为place, house, city, country, world等表示地点的名词。E.g. Changsha is the city where I was born. 3. why（为什么）指原因，在从句中作原因状语。其先行词是reason. E.g. I dont know the reason why he looks unhappy today. 4. 在正式场合，介词+ which可代替when, where, why。E.g. I will

I dont know the reason for which he did it.5. 先行词是表示地点或时间时，有时用where或when, 有时用that 或which引导从句，这时要根据从句的谓语动词是及物还是不及物来判断。及物就用that / which， 不及物就用where / when。 e.g. This is the house where he lived last year.
